I didn’t know the name of this plant in English. So I looked it up on the Internet and found out its name.
I always check what I find so I wrote it in the search engine. And I had to laugh out loud. Not because of the name, but because all the headers were very similar, very unfriendly towards this plant like “declaring war on ground elder”. Yes it’s ground elder. I even saw a photo with it and the pic said “the enemy”.
I have it in my garden and I am so happy about it. As I can go and collect some whenever I feel like having a green smoothie or juice 🙂 But my garden is not a normal one, I have to admit. I love weeds and so I plant them on purpose as for example stinging nettles or common chickweed.
We bought a house with a small garden a year and a half ago and the garden had an English lawn. Just grass and 2 fruit trees. I don’t want to say that I don’t like grass, it can be pretty good to make a juice with (or run on), but I prefer to have a variety of wild greens for my lunch. The ground elder can be found in woods or parks as well so don’t be discouraged that you don’t have a garden. You can almost always pick some plants from the wild when you’re out on a walk.
So today I got inspired to put ground elder in my smoothie. And it was sooo good. Yummy. I’d like to invite you to not be so harsh on your weeds if you’ve got a garden and put them rather in your smoothie than just throw them away. You’ll see your body will purr with satisfaction and your taste buds will be happy as well.
Small amount of wild garlic leaves
1 small banana
1 apple (whole)
Oranges, juice made of
Small piece of turmeric (I had 1,5cm)
Put all the ingredients into the blender and blend until desired consistency. I love my smoothies as fine as possible and runny. Therefore I don’t put much fruit in them. But I also had a time when I was making smoothies from 5 big bananas.
